Thanks, Bill. Didn't get to watch the game so I appreciate the recap.

Also, darn Raffl. (just getting warmed up for unreasonable dislike)

I had no idea Konecny could pass like that. All the highlights I've watched (very limited!) show him burning down the wing and taking the puck to the net.

He has really great vision, and gets the puck off so quickly. Can't wait to see him with G and Jake.

Well, might have to wait a year for that.

But he has top line potential with his speed and vision.

Re last night:

Was very impressed with both goalies and even more so the job Hexy has done in rebuilding the pool of goal prospects.

There is no doubt in my mind that Konecny can succeed in the NHL, kid reminds me a bit of Danny Briere. The only question is will they give him a chance or will we have to wait one more year.

Was very impressed with Morin's mobility, shot blocking and his sharp first pass. While he'll certainly make mistakes, I'd rather have him in the lineup over Schultz. I think he can replace the vet on the PK while being a better player at ES. You will also see less opponents jabbing at our goalies when big Sam is on the ice.

Hagg and Leier both had strong games, as did NAK. All 3 look like future NHL players.

I had the same thought on Konecny....a little more sand paper then Briere but reminds me of him as well.....Hopefully guys like Morin and Sanheim get some time this year with the big club. Quite Frankly Provorov has the ability to play top 4 minutes right now...I'm hoping he sticks.
Hextall has said he will take guys that make the team better....regardless of age. Is there any one that can actually say Konecny or Provorov don't make them better right now?

1) The Flyers announced before the game that defenseman Nick Schultz, who hobbled off in Tuesday's win over the Islanders but returned for a penalty kill, will miss four to seven days with a lower-body injury.

I was reading along and was like four....to....seven...(please say weeks, c'mon weeks, please say weeks)....days....(DAMNIT!)

So you're upset that a Flyer player is not injured worse than he is?

I don't think he's wishing for an injury, just that he'd rather see other players (Morin, Provorov) in his spot in the lineup.

Or, yes, he could just be a terrible person who wishes injuries on seemingly nice people.

Edit: Well, there ya go.

Bill does Alt have any future at all with the flyers? Have they pretty much written him off as an nhl prospect?

I know it was only one game, and it was against the Devils mostly "B" squad, but I want someone to convince me why Konecny shouldnt make our team this year...

A. he only looks good because he is playing against vets that dont care or full time AHL/ECHLers

B. name a time where a prospect developed for too long

He could still wind up being a 6 or 7. Positional play is quite good. Sufficiently mobile. Makes an adequate first pass. His puck handing could still improve.

Fight aside, watching him over the past few years (not all that much honestly), he seems to be a guy that goes through the motions, and does a decent enough job, but doesnt really push the pace and lacks the impact player mindset. Obviously I could be completely wrong, but thats what I see. He doesnt seem to have the mental edge you see in the majority of NHL d-men.

Even if he never plays a game in the NHL, I still wouldn't be upset. He was basically a throw in and he seems like a good reliable player to help the young guys when they are in the AHL. He will hopefully get a chance at some point and we can see what he does with it

No, he is wishing for Schultz to be injured longer, so a younger player can take his place. I personally want what is good for the team, and a player being injured and out longer is certainly not a good thing for the team, in my opinion.
